  • I HIGHLY recommend Kiddie Academy of Islip. If your toddler isn't speaking and the doc says they need speech therapy, please bring him or her to Kiddie Academy of Islip! They will talk in no time and it's so much fun. KJ has been at Kiddie Academy for almost two years, since her was 9 months old. To explain a little of our experience: My son, KJ, is almost three and talks in clear sentences. He can tell you what he wants and asks questions they learn in school, like "How many does this bucket have? How many does this one have? Which one has more?" (Imagine your little one asking You? So cool.) KJ's teacher, Ms. Erin, gives the kids little jobs like help set the table for meal time or help her with the calendar (they learn days of the week and months of the year.) Because of Ms Erin going through each day and month, and dates and temperatures, KJ counts each number through 30, ie..he counts 1, 2....21, 22, 23 to 30. Ms. Erin does art and science projects themed each week, teaching my son new words and songs. They practice pre-writing skills like tracing on dotted lines for their names. My son recognizes his name! I am proud of how much KJ knows. There's a whole amazing team behind KJ's learning, a very special thanks to Ms. Erin, his teacher and Ms. Jamie, the school director, who always keeps communication open and transparent. (They've helped me so much, when we were transitioning from the bottle or potty training, they were happily supporting us and working with us.) KJ started singing this song this morning that he learned at Kiddie Academy, word by word and making the motions to go with the songs: Put on your spacesuit. We're going to the Moon. (pretend to step into pants and buckle boots) Climb aboard your rocket ship. We're going to blast off soon. Put on your helmet. Strap yourself in tight. (pretend putting on helmets and buckling your safety belt) Check your controls and instruments. Get ready for the flight. (pretend to turn on switches) Time for your journey. The countdown has begun. (wave and salute) Here we go, Get ready, Get set! 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 (slowly rise from seated position) Blast off! (jump up) Thanks Ms. Erin and Ms. Jamie!
